Version 3. Last updated: April 29, 2025

Welcome to the page for US subscriptions at Bonner Comic Laden.

Below we have listed what you should keep in mind when subscribing to us:

1. How do you price comics, and are there any discounts for subscriptions?

We price our comics based on the current daily exchange rate.
This means that if the dollar exchange rate falls, our prices also go down. If the dollar exchange rate rises, we also have to adjust our subscription prices.

A 10% discount is available on almost all comics from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image, as well as many smaller publishers.
For magazines and certain small publishers, the discount may be lower or even waived. This would need to be inquired about individually.
Merchandise also has no discount, and often there is even a surcharge on the dollar price.

Here is a sample calculation for a comic with a standard discount:
$3.99 x daily exchange rate of 0.95 = €3.79 x subscription discount of 10% = €3.41

2. How exactly do I order?

As of now (as of April 29, 2025), we manage our US subscriptions via Manage Comics. What exactly does this mean for you?
You now have several options for ordering your US comics from us.

1. You create a free account.
After that, you have two options:
A. You pre-order your comics every month. To do this, go to "Subscriptions" and the subsection "Publishers." There, you'll see the complete offerings for the current month (Diamond, Lunar, and Random House). You can then pre-order or subscribe to the comics via the detailed view. This method is best for customers who like to have a choice of multiple covers and order the main cover and a variant cover.
B. You subscribe to the series (via "Subscribe"). This has the advantage that the latest issue of a series orders itself each time. This also works with most trade paperback and hardcover series. You then only have to keep an eye on new releases and any standalone and special issues.
This method is best for customers who prefer the main cover.
NOTE: You can also subscribe to the B variant cover.
In addition, each new release counts as its own series, and previous subscriptions are not transferred. This should be taken into account with Marvel and Dynamite, for example, which like to relaunch their series every 6-12 months.
You can, of course, also subscribe to only some of the series and place individual orders for other series each month (e.g., for variant covers).

2. In the future, you will send us a ONE-TIME email containing the series you would like to subscribe to, and then, if necessary, updates with series/individual issues you would like to add or even cancel. This eliminates the need to send us the entire monthly order.

3. As usual, you send us your complete monthly order via email in the usual format (title) or drop off the order book in the store (if your order is limited to Diamond's offerings).

You can also see when your pre-ordered comics are scheduled to be released via "Release Dates" (especially helpful in case of various delays).

We hope we've whetted your appetite for Manage Comics and that you'll use them for your future subscriptions. :)

Important: Please note that each list has a lead time of two months. This means that in May you order comics that will be released in July, comics ordered in June will be released in August, etc. This is especially important if you want to have earlier issues, which we might then have to reorder.

3. Where can I see what's new?

There are several options for this.
The easiest is to subscribe to the Previews catalog, which provides an overview of all products distributed through Diamond. This costs €4.50 per month or, if requested, is included free of charge with monthly orders over €50.
Another option is the solicitations offered on various news sites such as comicbookresources.com, i.e. advance announcements that are listed there – separated by publisher. However, this is generally limited to print products. Merchandise and similar items are rarely, if ever, listed there.
We have also assembled all the preorder catalogs in the catalog section on this site.

4. Why do I have to put together my own order every time?

Years of experience have shown that this is the best method, as each order is unique and clear. It also makes it easier for the customer to add or remove new series from the subscription, as the relevant issues can simply be ordered or not ordered.

This way, a separate email doesn't have to be sent for every change to the subscription, and the risk of errors is reduced.

5. What exactly does "subscription" mean? What about cancellation periods?

Strictly speaking, purchasing US comics through us is not a "subscription" in the traditional sense. However, there is no adequate translation for the term "pull list" used by Americans. In practice, it is "regular, fixed pre-orders."
Subscriptions to comics can be canceled at any time; there is no obligation to purchase. However, we ask our customers to "purchase" any pre-ordered products (the aforementioned two-month lead time must be observed), which should be a given.

6. How and when is shipping done?

We have a central shipping date for US subscriptions once a month. This is usually in the second or third week of the month.
We charge a flat rate of €5.90 per shipment. Of course, there is the option – especially for small subscriptions – to receive your subscription only every two or even three months to save on postage costs.

7. How is payment made?

Delivery is by invoice (for new customers, we reserve the right to request advance payment if necessary). Advance payment is neither necessary nor possible (among other things, because announced items sometimes don't appear).
Unfortunately, payment via PayPal or direct debit is not possible for US subscriptions.

8. Can I order everything from Manage Comics' range?

Unfortunately not.
Firstly, there are products that are not approved for sale outside of North America due to licensing reasons (currently, these include the manga and Star Wars series from Dark Horse Publishing, comic series featuring Disney characters such as "Gargoyles," and otherwise primarily merchandise). However, we also strive to source these products from other sources.
Obtaining series that deal with the topic of National Socialism is also difficult. These are then blocked by the distributor for shipping to Germany.
Clothing (e.g., T-shirts) and food (e.g., sweets) are generally not permitted to be ordered through us for customs reasons.
When ordering DVDs and Blu-rays, a possible region code must be observed. We assume no responsibility for ordered products that cannot be played by the customer due to this.
Furthermore, shipping of adult items is also not possible.
Also important: Please DO NOT order the title COMIC SHOP NEWS! It cannot be ordered individually, but only in packs of 100. We do not carry the title and would therefore charge customers who order it for the entire bundle (which would currently be approximately €25 per issue).

9. By what date must I place my order?

The delivery note/invoice shows the respective date by which the new order must be received by us.

10. What about variant covers?

Variant covers, which can be found with their own order code in the previews or online catalog, can usually be ordered as usual.

Then there's the 1-for-1 cover method. In other words, if an issue has two covers that can't be ordered individually, we have no control over this and will assign the respective subscriber a cover of our choosing.

We generally can't obtain special covers that are tied to a specific order quantity (e.g., in a 1-for-10 allocation), and if we do, they are available in the online shop. Unfortunately, subscriptions for these aren't possible, as we can't guarantee receiving every cover for every issue.

11. What about reorders? Can you order older issues?

Yes and no.
Older issues (meaning a period of approximately 3-12 months) from DC and Dark Horse can usually still be reordered.
The situation is different for Marvel, Image, and almost all smaller publishers. These issues are usually sold out upon release. However, there are always exceptions, so it's best to submit a corresponding wanted list promptly to minimize gaps in your collection.
